Community-led clean-up campaigns have begun gaining momentum in rural areas around Port Shepstone, as residents work together to improve the cleanliness and appearance of their surroundings.
Local youth groups, in particular, have taken the lead in organising weekly initiatives aimed at collecting waste and raising awareness about environmental responsibility.
The campaigns have also encouraged participation from households and small businesses, many of which have started adopting better waste management practices.
Community leaders say the initiative is a positive step toward building pride in local spaces while addressing ongoing sanitation challenges.
Organisers hope to expand the programme to nearby areas in the coming months.
